  ASA ADVERTISING CODE - Substantiation

  Before submitting an advertisement for publication, advertisers must hold documentary evidence to prove all claims, whether direct or implied, that are capable of objective substantiation.

  Relevant evidence should be sent without delay if requested by the ASA. The adequacy of evidence will be judged on whether it supports both the detailed claims and the overall impression created by the advertisement.

  ADVERTISING CODE - Testimonials and endorsements
   

• Advertisers should hold signed and dated proof, including a contact address, for any testimonial they use.  Unless they are genuine opinions taken from a published source, testimonials should be used only with the written permission of those giving them

  Claims made for the treatment of minor addictions and bad habits should make clear the vital role of willpower.

  DO NOT CLAIM YOU CAN HEAL OR OFFER MEDICAL ADVICE

• The Therapist must not make claims to have had any form of medical training, will offer no medical opinions, nor claim any medical cures, (Unless the therapist is a fully qualified and registered General Practitioner or holds the relevant Medical qualifications.)

• The therapist must not make any claims that hypnotherapy treatment can successfully treat any form of cancer, although it is recognised by the medical profession that hypnotherapy can be effective in relieving pain and anxiety/fear in cancer sufferers.

• Make no claims that hypnotherapy can change the size of male appendages nor claim that the female chest area can be changed altered or increased in size by hypnotherapy treatment.

 TRAINING & ORGANISATION MEMBERSHIP

• Claims made by therapists that they have been trained or are members of an hypnotherapy organisation or body are liable to be prosecuted under the trading standards act, The act prohibits falsely claiming to having had or is trained/training with any training body and claims to be a current member of training body without an up to date certificate and number of membership. The document must be displayed in a manner which fee-paying customers/clients can inspect and record details.
